I was looking for something different to listen to at work today, and so I blew the dust off of a box of cassettes at home and pulled out three: Slash's Snakepit - "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere"; Warrant - "Dog Eat Dog"; and the last "mixed" tape I ever put together. I can't remember what purpose I made it for, because usually when I made custom tapes it was either a gift for someone or had some theme to it. Neither case applies to this example.
Here's the song list:
side A
Filter - Trip Like I Do
Canned Heat - Going Up The Country (live at Woodstock)
The Presidents Of The United States Of America - Kitty
Soundgarden - 4th Of July
The Cranberries - 21
Aerosmith - Fever
Bush - Mouth
Eric Clapton - Malted Milk
Alice In Chains - I Stay Away
Guns N Roses - You Ain't The First
Elvis Presley - Hound Dog
Lynrd Skynrd - Tuesday's Gone
Golden Earring? - Slow Ride
The Reverend Horton Heat - Martini Time
Wait, it gets better...
side B
The Benedictine Monks Of Santo Demingo De Silos - Hosanna Filio David
followed immediately by...
Kirk Hammet/sometechnorapdweeb - Satan
Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride
Planet Wenck And The Satellites - Little Green Men
AC/DC - For Those About To Rock...
Slash's Snakepit - Doin' FIne
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Janice Joplin - Mercedes Benz
Cracker - Lonesome Johnny Blues
Tom Petty - A Higher Place
Robert Johnson - They're Red Hot
L7 - Off The Wagon
Guns N Roses - Down On The Farm
Aerosmith - Big Ten Inch Record
unknown - Beer Is Good For You
"Weird" Al Yankovich - One More Minute
There's a lot of obscurity there, to say the least, but all of these songs are from albums/tapes/cds I'm pretty sure I have. WTF does it mean? There does seem to be a fair amount of boozing moozic on there, so I may have intended for it to be a drinking collection...or perhaps I was drunk when I made it...I dunno. Either way, I'd love to hear these but I can't. Apparently this relic of a radio I use at work has lost the capacity to play tapes in its old age, so I'll have to wait until I leave here and play this in the car on the way home. In the meantime, I have Creed's "Human Clay" and Velvet Revolver's "Contraband" on cd...meh. I've heard them too much lately. Looks like I'll be falling asleep to the classical station this afternoon...

That is definately a mix if I ever saw one!
I remember doing those, until I got a minidisk player where I can put 5 hours of music on it and hit "shuffle"

that IS an odd collection...
I just though today, that I'd re-write Steppenwolf's "Born To Be Wild", and make the lyrics Star Wars related...
